Kentucky Chapter
The Kentucky Chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) was founded on March 20th, 2014. Our mission is to foster growth in the fire safety community, promote technical advancements in our industry, and educate the public in order to mitigate the risk of fire catastrophes. We are a local organization whose membership spans across the fire protection industry including but not limited to: code consulting, system design, manufacturing, research and testing, insurance, and the fire service.
SFPE is the world’s oldest and largest society dedicated to strengthening the fire protection engineering profession and advancing the science of fire protection. It was established in 1950 and incorporated as a not-for-profit membership organization in 1971. Today the Society has nearly 5000 members and over 100 chapters worldwide, including more than 20 student chapters. SFPE also encourages a comprehensive education for fire protection engineers and continuing on-the-job training. SFPE offers an all-embracing benefit package, including free member series webinars, technical publications, numerous discounts, and so much more.
The Kentucky Chapter of SFPE provides a means of information exchange and a mechanism for education on various topics related to fire protection and life safety. Discussions relevant to modern fire safety design range from basic code requirements to the application of sophisticated computer modeling. The Chapter accomplishes its objectives by holding monthly lunch meetings and offering occasional seminars, as well as via members-only email information exchange. This website is intended to provide more information about the Chapter’s activities including monthly meetings and outreach seminars, as well as information about our executive board, benefits of membership, how to become a member, and a list of Chapter members offering professional services.
